Frequently asked questions

What is the EU AI Act?

Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 — the first comprehensive AI law. It classifies AI systems by risk (prohibited, high, limited, minimal) and attaches obligations to each tier, with penalties up to €35M or 7% of global turnover.

When do the deadlines apply?

Prohibitions and AI literacy duties have applied since 2 February 2025; general-purpose AI model duties since 2 August 2025. Article 50 transparency duties apply from 2 August 2026. Current Commission implementation material points to 2 December 2027 for Annex III high-risk systems and 2 August 2028 for Annex I product-embedded systems.

What counts as high-risk?

Annex III lists the use cases: hiring and HR, credit scoring and essential services, education, biometrics, critical infrastructure, law enforcement, migration and justice. If your AI operates in one of these areas, it is likely high-risk.

Is this legal advice?

No. The checker is an informational, rule-based self-assessment and the Doc Pack contains documentation templates — not legal advice, not a certification. For binding assessments, consult qualified counsel.

What is in the Doc Pack?

Starter Pack ($229): 5 documents. Full Pack ($499): 6 documents including an Article 27 FRIA applicability/support draft. Generated after checkout confirmation and a 15-minute questionnaire — printable PDF + editable Word, with one revision round and 14-day refund if the delivered pack materially differs from the contents described at purchase.

Why pay if the European Commission has a free checker?

Use the official European Commission AI Act Compliance Checker if you only need a free first-pass scope check. TrustPacket is independent and exists for the next step: structured drafts prepared for buyer and counsel review, editable Word output, email-gated delivery, and monitoring for teams that need to answer procurement or compliance questionnaires.
